The speedboat skimmed over Boka Bay’s crystal-clear seas. Every viewpoint encircled me with a crown of granite-colored mountains, and the stretching seashore revealed the red-tiled roofs of rocky medieval settlements. I had my first experience of Montenegro in this way, thanks to the One&Only Portonovi.
“Enchanting Boka Bay: Exploring Montenegro’s One&Only Luxury Haven”
Boka Bay seems as if it was taken straight out of a fairy tale. The bay has a bow-like form, with a small canal between its two large ends. You get breathtaking views of the towering Orjen and Lovcen mountains from every direction. The Montenegrin Riviera has evolved from the villages and beaches surrounding Boka Bay, often known as the Bay of Kotor.
While the walled ancient city of Kotor is at the further end of the bay and has a rich history, my trip in Montenegro started in the little beach town of Herceg Novi, which is becoming more and more well-known in the luxury scene as a result of the opening of the One&Only resort.
Actually, the resort was planned to resemble the traditional Venetian palace architecture seen in the area. Guests may enjoy southern Italian cuisine while sipping exquisite wines at the al fresco Italian restaurant Sabia or sunbathe regally poolside at one of the property’s several pools. The Tapasake Club, located at the opposite end of the resort, has a more lively pool club vibe with sushi, sake bars, and DJs.
The expansive resort is situated on highly sought-after land on a long, sandy beach in Boka Bay. With its stunningly designed gardens, glistening turquoise pools, high ceilings, and arched arches, it’s simple to think you’ve entered a palace straight out of a fairy tale.
“Opulent Views and Luxe Comfort: One&Only’s Lavish Rooms and Suites”
Every one of the 123 rooms and suites has a view of the mountains, bay, and marina. The rooms have large patios, floor to ceiling windows, big soaking tubs, and sleek, contemporary fireplaces. Thanks to their large vanities and comfy sofas, bathrooms are almost as big as bedrooms and may be used as lounging areas. The most elegant pampering experience is created with a glass of Champagne and a warm robe.
Back at the hotel, a key component of its philosophy is wellbeing. Being the first hotel in the portfolio to include a Chenot Espace spa, the One&Only Portonovi boasts an extravagant spa thanks to a cooperation with health brand Chenot. The spa offers med spa services in addition to conventional spa treatments and therapies that reduce stress. A customized program that includes technical anti-aging treatments, detox diets, and dietary recommendations is available to guests.
“One&Only Portonovi: Where Luxury Meets Local Delight in Montenegro”
I don’t think I could have experienced Montenegro in the same ways that One&Only Portonovi did. The accommodations and food are five-star, and the service and hospitality are flawless. What truly made the difference for me, though, was the locals’ delight in the location. I felt a connection to this location after I left. And you can tell a hotel has done its job effectively when it leaves you wanting to stay longer.
I have the good fortune to experiment with a variety of things. Taking a speedboat tour of the bay is the ideal approach to get a sense of location. From the resort’s own pier, our guide led us to almost every location in Boka Bay. A visit to the surreal Our Lady of the Rocks island in the middle of the bay was even included in the itinerary.
The little, rocky island is the location of a chapel with a turquoise dome that dates back to the fifteenth century. We also drove quickly to the entrance of Kotor’s Old Town and on to Tivat, the first millionaire’s community on the sea, renowned for its opulent restaurants, glitzy shops, and luxurious boats.
However, the service and the hotel’s distinctive experiences are where the One&Only Portonovi really treats its visitors as members of high society. Every experience offered to visitors makes them feel like a VIP, from the opulent med spa to exclusive boat cruises around Boka Bay and quiet forest walks through the highlands of Orjen and Lovcen.
“Unveiling Montenegro’s Heritage: One&Only’s Authentic Village Expedition”
However, the hotel’s arrangement for a closer link to Montenegro was my favorite experience. My guide Sasa, a skilled hiker and trail runner from the area, led me through dense forests and across rocky paths that lead to breath-taking views of Boka Bay. What waited at the conclusion of the voyage was the finest part. The route led to a 400-year-old, all-stone town where I met a family who had been villagers for many generations. Our host Nicola and his spouse are among the few people who still live in the town today; in fact, their great-grandparents helped build the community.”
